The See Inside series of non-fiction books includes lots of flaps for children to lift to discover more facts about the subject. They are aimed at children over 6 I believe but both my daughters (4 and 5) like them. The eldest particularly likes to sit on her own discovering lots of little facts. See Inside Your Head has been particularly popular with her as she has been fascinated to discover how the brain works.  The books are sturdy, colourful and educational but also fun and very interesting.
